The existence of two balancing forces is also a feature of metaphysics. My own spiritual teacher, the late master of Yoga, Dr. George King, taught that truth itself is polarized - hence the mystical symbol for truth of a double-edged sword. He made the following profound statement in a lecture on wisdom - a statement I would recomend as worthy of deep meditation:

«Truth has two poles - it must have in order to balance. At the exact intersecting point of positive and negative lines of mental force, consciousness is produced. Consciousness is capable of that faculty of discrimination which eventually produces Truth.»
